Fort Lauderdale lawyer Charles M. Tatelbaum has joined has joined the Florida Center for Investigative Reporting’s Board of Directors.

Tatelbaum, who chairs the creditors’ rights and bankruptcy practice at Tripp Scott, has a long and distinguished record of public service in Florida. He is currently a board member of Hispanic Unity of Florida, where he serves as chair of the development committee. He served for two years as chair of the board of directors for Friends of WLRN, the NPR and PBS affiliates for South Florida, while serving on its board for eight years and as its treasurer for one year.

Tatelbaum said he believes in the importance of investigative reporting, having first seen its power to influence public life for the better while serving as a young on-call lawyer for the former Hearst newspaper in his hometown of Baltimore.

“I am excited about this opportunity, and believe that working together with FCIR’s board and staff, I can help to enhance all the hard work that has been put forward,” Tatelbaum said.

“Chuck has invaluable experience working with a nonprofit news site, and we’re delighted that he’ll help us grow the Florida Center for Investigative Reporting,” said Sharon Rosenhause, FCIR’s board president.
