Florida Center for Investigative Reporting Associate Director Trevor Aaronson is a finalist for the 2011 Livingston Awards for Young Journalists. Aaronson’s nominated entry, “The Informants” in the September/October issue of Mother Jones, was supported by a fellowship from the Investigative Reporting Program at the University of California-Berkeley and a grant from the Fund for Investigative Journalism.

Aaronson’s story documented how the FBI recruits and uses informants in U.S. Muslim communities nationwide to initiate terrorism sting operations. In January, the story won the 2012 John Jay College/H.F. Guggenheim Excellence in Criminal Justice Reporting Award.

The Livingston Awards are an all-media competition recognizing excellence by journalists under the age of 35.
