The Florida Society of News Editors’ board of directors elected Mc Nelly Torres to the journalism group’s governing body.

Torres, one of the associate directors of the Florida Center for Investigative Reporting, is the first Latina to serve on the FSNE board. Founded in 1955, FSNE encourages journalistic excellence and freedom of speech and the press.

Also elected to the board were Chris Porter, executive editor of Sun Newspapers; and Dennis Durkee, managing editor of the Scripps Treasure Coast newspapers.
